The Five Best Gifts for Graduates
I graduated a long time ago, but I can still tell you the graduation gifts that were the most helpful. If you aren’t close with the graduate, it’s hard to find a gift that will be appropriate to give. Yes, there is always money, but how about something small to go along with it?
These are the top AFFORDABLE and helpful gifts for grads.
1 - Help them get to and from various interviews, events, etc. Uber or Lyft gift cards are super helpful!
2 - Help them transition into adulthood. Did you know the details of your health insurance plan? Did you know how you could improve your credit score? How about how to do your taxes? Why not give a gift that helps them ease into adulthood? The Last Class book is an affordable gift to give to any grad. Find it here.
3 - When I left my small town and transitioned to a bigger metropolitan area, I was incredibly naive - and friendly! I remember my dad gave me some mace spray to keep me safe. (It was to have until it accidentally went off in my friend’s apartment - just, no.) The Birdie alarm is a much better option. I give these to every girl I know who is graduating!
4 - Most people aren’t great cooks when they graduate. In fact, most have no clue how to do it. This is a great GIFT! Search for local cooking classes and buy a gift card or buy a membership to America’s Test Kitchen Cooking School.
5 - Useful household items are never a bad gift. I know towels aren’t particularly exciting gifts, but they are helpful! Who doesn’t want fluffy, new towels? Regardless of your gender, you need towels! My mom used to give money and a Costco beach towel to every grad. For years, they had their Costco beach towel whenever we'd go swimming!
I pride myself on giving gifts that are well received. If I am going to spend money, I want it to be something that the person will use or enjoy! These are five suggestions that are no-fail gifts for any grad!
